Bill Rodriguez


Bill Rodriguez is currently Managing Director at Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation, based in Menlo Park, California. He lives in Gaborone, Botswana. Bill trained in infectious disease medicine at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he served as chief medical resident, and established a research program in global health technologies and operational research at Harvard Medical School. In 2003, he joined the William J. Clinton Foundation at its inception, and became the Chief Medical Officer of the Clinton Health Access Initiative, where he helped broker pricing agreements between governments and the major suppliers of HIV drugs and diagnostic tests, and served on the HIV policy and guidelines committee of the World Health Organization. He was the founding CEO of Daktari Diagnostics, a for-profit social venture focused on diagnosis of the diseases of poverty, and the Chief Medical Officer for the Foundation for Innovative Diagnostics (FIND), a public-private partnership for global health based in Geneva, Switzerland, before joining the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation as a Managing Director. He has served on the Board of Directors of more than a dozen for-profit and not-for-profit global social enterprises in Africa, India, and the United States. Bill holds a B.Sc. in neuroscience from Brown University, an M.D. from Yale University, and completed training in internal medicine and infectious diseases at Harvard Medical School.
